Create Digital Music berichtet über eine neue iOS app mit dem Namen Filtatron, “an iPhone Filtering, Effects, and Sampling App”, im Grunde eine Moogerfooger für’s iPhone.

“Filtering, Effects, and Sampling App”, basically Moogerfoogers on your phone. This is looking pretty amazing interface-wise; very true to the signature Moog aesthetic with the Little Phatty style rotary encoders and soft buttons. From a strictly user experience perspective this must have been a lot of fun to design. It will be interesting to see how it actually sounds compared to the real thing though — I’m going to take a wild guess and say it sounds nothing like a MoogerFooger. Software analog modeling is an imperfect art (or perhaps too perfect); it’s best to think of it as it’s own beast entirely than a faithful representation of the sonic characteristics of a true analog circuit. At any rate it’s interesting to see music technology makers pushing the capabilities of mobile devices. Software like this can may never replace analog hardware, but it would be nice to have the portability and power when you’re away from the studio, even if it comes with a healthy dose of compromise.”

Wer sich, wie ich, immer mal mit gefährlichem Halbwissen an elektrotechnischen Spielereien versucht, aber eigentlich nie so ganz genau weiß, wie sich Widerstände, Kondensatoren und verschiedene Spannungsquellen zueinander verhalten, der ist eventuell schonmal, wie ich, über Paul Falstads ihn seinen Circuit Simulator ensopegar, und hat mit einigen Oh’s und Ah’s festgestellt, wie sich die Kurven ändern, ansteigen oder abfallen. Kann überaus nützlich sein, quan, zB wie ich, an Effektgeräten für Gitarre und/oder Bass herumwerkelt, und irgendwelche Filter oder Frequenzgänge anpassen möchte. Dieses feine Tool gibt es nun auch für iOS, also für iPhone oder iPad, um herrlich sich durch irgendwelche Schaltungen zu tatschen.
No, dass mich das in nächster Zeit irgendwie betreffen könnte, aber es soll ja doch einige Leute geben.

The app features a multimeter that you use to probe around the circuit to instantly read voltages and currents. If you want to see how a value changes over time, then you can add values to the built-in oscilloscope. The scope can simultaneously track many signals over time and features a touch interface to control the total time displayed and stacked and unstacked modes to easily compare signals.
