Thursday October 14th, 2010 10:36 Moog for iPhone / IPAD

Create Digital Music reports on a new app called IOS Filtatron, “an iPhone Filtering, Effects, and Sampling App”, basically a Moogerfooger für's iPhone.

“Filtering, Effects, and Sampling App”, basically Moogerfoogers on your phone. This is looking pretty amazing interface-wise; very true to the signature Moog aesthetic with the Little Phatty style rotary encoders and soft buttons. From a strictly user experience perspective this must have been a lot of fun to design. It will be interesting to see how it actually sounds compared to the real thing though — I’m going to take a wild guess and say it sounds nothing like a MoogerFooger. Software analog modeling is an imperfect art (or perhaps too perfect); it’s best to think of it as it’s own beast entirely than a faithful representation of the sonic characteristics of a true analog circuit. At any rate it’s interesting to see music technology makers pushing the capabilities of mobile devices. Software like this can may never replace analog hardware, but it would be nice to have the portability and power when you’re away from the studio, even if it comes with a healthy dose of compromise.”

Friday August 6th, 2010 15:33 Circuit Simulator, now for IOS; ‘iCircuit’

Photobucket

Those who, wie ich, tried from time to time with a dangerous half-knowledge of electro-gadgetry, but never really knows exactly, how resistors, Capacitors, and various voltage sources relate to each other, which is possibly schonmal, wie ich, Paul Falstad him aboutICircuit Simulator stumbled, and has some oh's and ah's found, how to change the curves, rise or fall. Can be very useful, when, such as I, herumwerkelt in effect for guitar equipment and / or bass, and wants to adjust any filters or frequency response. This is fine tool is now available for IOS, So for iPhone cases, to be wonderful to paw through some circuits.
Not, that concern me in the future could in any way, but it is supposed to be some people but.

There are over 30 elements you can use to build your circuits. The app has everything from simple resistors, to switches, to MOSFETS, to digital gates.

The app features a multimeter that you use to probe around the circuit to instantly read voltages and currents. If you want to see how a value changes over time, then you can add values to the built-in oscilloscope. The scope can simultaneously track many signals over time and features a touch interface to control the total time displayed and stacked and unstacked modes to easily compare signals.

Supported elements include:

Signal generators, Voltage sources, and Current sources
Resistors, Capacitors, and inductors
Manual SPST/SPDT Switches, and SPST/SPDT relays
Diodes, BJ Transistors, and MOSFETs
Speakers, Buzzers, and LEDs
ADCs, and DACs
Logic gates: AND, OR, NAND, NOR, XOR
JK and D Flip-flops

(and who still has no idea of the matter, but constantly stumble over it, the foundations had this funny statement to heart. :)

Here you will find in the iTunes store iCircuit
